OEM Mobility Rebates

Mobility dealers across the United States work hard to bring safe and affordable equipment for those with handicap accessible driving needs. Unfortunately, accessibility and affordability are not always two words that go hand-in-hand. Thankfully there are a variety of vehicle manufacturers who understand this and have created mobility rebate programs to help with the cost of new handicap accessible equipment.

There are four vehicle manufacturers who are members of the National Mobility Dealers Equipment Association (NMEDA): Chrysler, Ford, GM, and Toyota. These Dealers, along with others have created rebate programs for Individuals who are in need of adaptive mobility Equipment. Most rebates are worth between $500 - $1,000, which can be a massive help to many users. Regardless of the manufacturer, almost all rebates have these things in common:

  1. You will have to purchase and have the equipment installed before they will process your rebate, and the refund tends to take 8-10 weeks.
  2. Make sure to get all the proper certifications before having the handicap accessible equipment installed, this will vary depending on the equipment, the individual needing the accessible equipment and the state regulations. A local mobility dealer will be able to help you determine if a certification is required.
  3. Programs cover new handicap accessible equipment on new vehicles.
  4. Many programs will cover a lowered floor handicap accessible ramp van conversion. Check with your local mobility dealer to see if they work with a local vehicle dealer to apply the rebate directly to the vehicle.
  5. Rebate amounts tend to vary depending on the type of equipment being installed.

With any rebate program make sure to contact the vehicle manufacturer to see exactly what equipment is covered and any restrictions they may have. Your local mobility dealer will be able to help you retrieve any documentation you may need, or to verify with the dealer directly.

My professional background stems from non-profit marketing and fundraising for a large children’s cancer hospital. Every day I was able to make connections and relationships for kids and their families going through devastating times. From securing small donations to large corporate support, it was all about providing hope that one day doctors and researchers would find a cure. It was truly an honor to be a part of something so important.

Just this past year, I came to work alongside my family for BLVD.com, a website dedicated to offering the latest information and resources for people needing mobility products. This was a dream come true for me as I have always wanted to combine more time with my family while still helping others. Our family has been in the mobility industry for over 35 years with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for people with mobility issues. This is the spirit behind BLVD and what I am most excited about sharing in my blog.

I love meeting new people and have found that volunteering is the best way to learn more about others and myself. Coffee keeps me going as do walks my pup "Kirby" and most of all being with family and friends. I invite you to check out my blog to learn more about how "together we can move through life better!"
