Holiday Wheelchair Van Rental

With Halloween right around the corner we are speeding up towards the Holiday season. The need to travel to see family, friends, and enjoy the Holiday season can be hard to do if you are in need of a mobility vehicle for you or your loved one. Wheelchair Van Rentals are a wonderful way to ensure all of your family is together for any holiday gathering. At BLVD.com you can find wheelchair accessible van rentals near you just in time for your upcoming holiday gatherings.

Haven’t rented a wheelchair accessible van before? No problem here’s a few quick tips to help ensure you get an accessible rental that will meet your needs.

  1. Know what kind of power wheelchair, manual wheelchair, or scooter is going to be used.

    • Measure the widest points on the device, this is usually the main wheels-make sure to include the handrails on the wheels of a manual chair.

    • Measure how tall the individual sits on their device, you will want to measure from the ground to the top of their head, or the highest point on their device.

  2. Two main types of accessible rental vans, both allow for the individual using their mobility device to go into the vehicle without transferring to a seat first.

    • A rampvan, a minivan with a side or rear ramp. This is the most common rental.

    • A lift van, usually a full size van with a lift, the individual would ride up on the platform of the lift and then go into the vehicle.

  3. Accessible rentals will allow for the individual who is using a power or manual wheelchair to ride in the vehicle without having to transfer to a seat.

    • If the individual is using a power scooter they should not ride on the scooter in any circumstance.

Now you are prepared to contact your local dealer and reserve an accessible rental vehicle. For the holidays it is wise to book as far ahead as you are able, many companies will hold a vehicle for you for a minimal or no fee. To be safe reserve a van at least 3 months before any important events, holidays, weddings, birthdays etc.

We at BLVD.com wish you a Happy Holidays and safe travels!

My professional background stems from non-profit marketing and fundraising for a large children’s cancer hospital. Every day I was able to make connections and relationships for kids and their families going through devastating times. From securing small donations to large corporate support, it was all about providing hope that one day doctors and researchers would find a cure. It was truly an honor to be a part of something so important.

Just this past year, I came to work alongside my family for BLVD.com, a website dedicated to offering the latest information and resources for people needing mobility products. This was a dream come true for me as I have always wanted to combine more time with my family while still helping others. Our family has been in the mobility industry for over 35 years with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for people with mobility issues. This is the spirit behind BLVD and what I am most excited about sharing in my blog.

I love meeting new people and have found that volunteering is the best way to learn more about others and myself. Coffee keeps me going as do walks my pup "Kirby" and most of all being with family and friends. I invite you to check out my blog to learn more about how "together we can move through life better!"
