2012 Dodge Caravan. Front passenger seat is removable so that another wheelchair or other handicap chair could be put in place and locked down safely. Behind the driver and passenger seat area is another area to lock down wheelchair/ mobility chair if needed. There’s also room on the back seat for general seating or if a person with limited mobility would like to get out of the wheelchair /transport chair, and transfer to the backseat. Nice van in case a number of handicapped persons want to be able to access the cabin at once. The override button is used to deploy the ramp. The automatic ramp deployment which also could be operated from the driver and passenger seat needs to be replaced. We have an estimate, and a very good mechanic who specializes in mobility equipment, and conversions. The company is quite trustworthy and located in Georgia. They have recently given us an estimate, which includes pricing for the part and the labor. However, we simply do not use the van enough to invest in replacing this function. We simply use the override function to open the door on the right side and push the button to deploy the automatic floor ramp. Front seats are comfortable. The back bench is nice when a seat cushion that covers the seat and back is used. It is an easy adjustment. There is a battery back up in the rear of the van in case of loss of power to the vehicle such as a dead battery, so that the ramp still deploys, etc. There is an adjustable feature that adjusts the brake and accelerator for the driver, according to their height. Both petals will come up in the floor several inches or go down according to one’s height. There are three sets of keys. The doors can be opened from outside before approaching the van except for the one on the right, which deploys the ramp currently being controlled with the override button. To open the right rear door you simply push it manually on that particular side. The automatic remote works for everything else on the van except the right side door, until the mechanism controlling the door and ramp on that side is hooked back up and replaced. The van is reliable and quite useful, especially when there is more than one handicapped person in the vehicle at a time. However, due to its infrequent use lately, it’s just more practical to sell and pass it on to someone who may really need it, and can put it to good use.
