For over 34 years, Freedom Motors USA (FMI) has been building and selling the safest, most reliable wheelchair vans, cars, hybrids, and SUVs. Since bringing the first lowered-floor wheelchair minivan to the mobility market in 1987, Freedom Motors has developed a reputation for innovation. The introduction of the first wheelchair SUV with the Honda Element was followed by the Superwide ramp in 2016. In 2021, Freedom Motors developed the first Toyota Sienna Hybrid WAV. With engineering that keeps the original battery hybrid system completely intact means that this WAV provides up to 36 mpg. FMI is excited to bring the most fuel-efficient wheelchair van to the mobility industry.
After decades of selling across the country, we have the “buy from home” process down with at-home and video demonstrations, knowledgeable Mobility Specialists, and driveway delivery.
Our ramps and all conversion parts are crafted at our manufacturing facility in Battle Creek, MI; no parts are imported from or mass-produced in other countries. We take pride in converting our wheelchair accessible Kia Soul vehicles with the best quality of materials.
The rear entry conversion allows the vehicle to #ParkAnywhere in the lot; don’t be restricted to handicap spots, again!
The ramps are constructed from high-strength, structural-grade aluminum. The interior lowered floor is built of formed alloy steel reinforced with a structural steel frame which is powder-coated and undercoated.
Most vehicles can be equipped with either an automatic or manual operating ramp. The spring-assisted manual ramp is as light as a carton of milk, taking little effort to deploy or store. It is also more wallet-friendly. The automatic operating ramp can be opened with the touch of a button on a remote fob, allowing the wheelchair user to enter or exit without assistance. The automatic ramp also removes any effort for the caregiver.

Learn MoreWe love our new vehicle! The conversion changed our lives for the better! Our salesperson was excellent at the demo of all functions, and had me do everything just to be sure I knew how! I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. We had received 3 different quotes and Freedom Motors stood out as the best on every level!
Happy to see accessible vehicles on other vehicles other than the mini vans. The Honda Element has been great for my wife.
Being able to have an accessible vehicle has meant the world to both my fiancé and I. For over 7 years, he had been unable to live life as he wished, Due to the inability to have the FREEDOM of mobility. Now the possibilities seem endless. In fact we just got back from visiting my mom in NC--his first time ever in that state!!
My new conversion van has erased any dread of going out because it has eliminated the struggle of transporting a wheelchair. I now look forward to every trip out whether it's to run errands or go out with friends.
I love the Honda Element! I feel like a regular person - hated having to drive a van at my age (22) and wanted something fun but acessible and the Element is perfect fun, love it!.
It was a no pressure, enjoyable experience. Being able to take my wife's powerchair all the time has opened up so much more FREEDOM for her to do the things and get around so easily.
Amanda is starting college in the fall so this will definitely be a great beginning to her independence. Everyone who sees her car is amazed that a Honda element can be converted into a disability vehicle. We have ad people come up to us in the parking lot wanting to take pictures and get some information for a family member that is looking for a conversion vehicle. We just recently gave you company name to someone helping a fimily member find a car.
We had been using a 1999 Chevy Venture van with a portable ramp (carry by hand). We had seen rear entry vans, but not up close. In talking with the sales department at Freedom Motors, they offered to bring this type of vehicle over for us to see, with no obligation. We thought that was very convenient. Even though we live in Wisconsin and Freedom Motors is in Battle Creek, Michigan. After seeing the van (we have seen others) and the features we could tell Freedom was above the rest. Having this conversion from Freedom Motors has made our regular outings (doctor, dentist, shopping, church) a treat instead of a chore. Number 1 choice for buying from Freedom Motors was quality product. Number 2 choice was the confidence in knowing vehicles have been crash tested, and lastly Freedom Motors stands behind what they sell. Nothing better than a peace of mind. I would recommend Freedom Motors to anyone looking for this type of vehicle.
Thank you so much for all of your excursions above and beyond the call of duty on our behalf. We couldn't be happier with our vehicle and the service we received!
They even came to my rescue in the snow storm the morning after my purchase to assist me in leaving the motel. I have never met such sincere and caring sales and service staff. I recommend you to everyone I talk with. I left with dignity and happiness from the service I received.

We are enjoying our Freedom Motors vehicle very much. All of our questions regarding our vehicle have been answered, and our experience was very good! With our new vehicle, we are able to go out of the house and visit relatives and friends. We're able to go on vacation now that I can take my wheelchair places that I could not before!
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you and the staff at Freedom Motors. We have had our van for about 4 months now, and we love it! The whole process was amazing. We were able to get the vehicle needed at a price we could afford. I am especially thankful to our sales rep who walked us through the process so diligently. Thank you for letting us experience Freedom again!
We are enjoying our Freedom Motors vehicle very much! It is making life easier much easier on both of us. Our salesman and the entire staff at Freedom Motors were professional and courteous! The ability to take my power wheelchair has changed my life. I'm able to go places I haven't been to in years! It's now also safer since my wife doesn't have to lift and push me around in a manual chair. Thank you Freedom Motors!
I'm enjoying my new van. It runs great and I really enjoy driving. I have been able to experience almost all the features of the vehicle, which were explained to me in a professional manner. It has been a very good experience. The vehicle runs great, and I feel confident I'll get where I'm going. The conversion hasn't effected the handling of the van at all, and I'm always getting compliments on the van and the conversion!
We are on our first long trip with the van... a three week adventure through the Eastern portion of the US! Being able to use the power chair away from home has been helpful to both of us... he can maneuver for longer periods and into more areas, where I never could have pushed him for such long periods of time. I now no longer have to deal with transfer issues and pushing our old transport chair like I used to! We are definitely doing more and getting out and about more thanks to our van. The van has even made it over and back on the Block Island Ferry from Pt. Judith, RI and back. We have driven all over and love it!
I am really enjoying my new Freedom Motors vehicle. I like it! All of my questions have been answered regarding the vehicle, and my experience with Freedom Motors was great! I really love that I can go out more now, it is great!
We love our freedom! It's so nice to go and not worry about getting stuck because the ramp or door doesn't work! My overall experience was great. I believe in the product and will recommend Freedom Motors to everyone! It has been great to know reliable transportation is waiting and appointments can be kept!
We just had our Toyota Sienna delivered and it's great! The delivery was wonderful and all of my questions were answered. I'm very happy; but more importantly, my son Michael and my daughter Marisa are so happy! Thank you for being in this business!
I'm enjoying my Honda Element EX! Your staff was able to professionally answer all of my questions and concerns. My overall experience has been very good! As of yet, I haven't had any grand adventures, but the convenience and safety of being able to drive my power chair directly into and out of a vehicle rather than transferring to and from a vehicle and travel scooter is wonderful!
We couldn't be happier with our new van. We can get our son in and out with just one hand in a total of 15 seconds flat. We have shaved off a good 10 to 15 minutes of time each time we put him into the vehicle. Simple things such as going to the store have become so much more pleasurable! Thank you so much!
I love the new van! It makes life so much easier, especially with a spouse who is gone most of the time because of his military service! It has allowed us to go about our daily lives, running errands etc, with no worry if Abby is safe as we travel. It has allowed for fewer transfers and lifting of Abby and her equipment!
This is such a great van, so easy to load and unload. We are very happy with it. Our rep was great to work with, the delivery was smooth and I couldn't be happier with the van. Before we had this van, we had to load our daughter in our SUV, and had to use a manual wheelchair when we went out. Now she can take her power chair and she has so much more Freedom! I'm very impressed with the quality that went into making this conversion for us, we could not be happier!
This is written with great pride as a consumer of Freedom Motors. We were in need of a vehicle that would help us in just trying to live a normal life. We came across you. From our first interaction we were so surprised. Everyone we have dealt with has showed the same respect and concern for us. In today's market, that is saying a lot for a business as large as yours. We want to let you know we appreciate all of your fine staff for helping us achieve our goal!
I really am enjoying my van tremendously. I am able to get out more often and even ventured to the mall for the first time in years! Any questions I have ever had were always answered in a professional and timely fashion. My overall experience was excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend Freedom Motors to anyone searching for an accessible vehicle.
I certainly have been enjoying it! The Freedom Motors conversion is a dream compared to what I had been doing with a standard lift for the past 20+ years! This was my second experience with Freedom Motors, the first was in 2008, and that one served it's purpose well too! We couldn't be happier and are happy to come back to Freedom Motors once again for our needs.
I really wanted to let you know how happy we are about the minivan. I was a little skeptical about buying a vehicle without having seen it first, but I'm glad to tell you that all of my fears have been put to rest. I could not stop Eboni from smiling yesterday after she saw the van. I took her for a test drive and she was so excited, she kept naming things that she liked... all wit ha big smile. Thank you for bringing us such a treasure.

Prior to us having delivery my parents were pretty much homebound. Getting in and out of the car for my father was increasingly troublesome. Our van has allowed my parents to get back into the community, see friends, attend church, see their granddaughter sing, and so much more. We are planning an upcoming vacation too! We couldn't have done it without your van!
I am able to enjoy many things again with my new Freedom Motors van. It has changed my life in many ways that words cannot explain. One of my favorite adventures so far is being able to take my dogs along for a ride. I am no longer dependent on others for a ride. Driving has always been one of my favorite things to do. It has been over three years since the last time I drove. Driving has given me the courage and motivation to explore new places and doing things I was once able to do.
I love the new design of our FMI vehicle! The locking mechanism is very secure and I feel safer using it. Everyone I come in contact with is fascinated on how fast I can enter and exit my FMI vehicle. I like getting in the car faster than my wife! They are even more impressed when I tell them about the reliabilty of FMI's vehicles. After buying 4 rear entry vehicles over 20 years, I am very satisfied with FMI. The salesman was very helpful! The VA Medical Center, San Francisco requested an E brake at the last minute and Freedom Motors jumped right in and solved it ASAP.
Before we got the truck, it had been many years since my husband took Allison on a fun outing by himself...just the 2 of them...because he would injure his back every time he lifted her. Now they enjoy father/daughter outings again, which is priceless! And, Allison absolutely loves riding in the truck. She loves riding up front next to me (or her Dad), and she loves it because we take her places a lot more often. It's just so easy to transport her now that we don't hesitate to take her on a quick outing.
It has made my life 100% better I now have the mobility to go any where that I want. I can go anywhere with out having to get someone to come with me. I love photography and now can get out and shoot pictures when I want to without extra help.
We are enjoying our new car. It takes a lot of stress out of going to work or elsewhere. Tom (salesman) was great. The demo was very helpful. I'm sure we'll have more adventures soon. I even made a list of things to do (like go to a movie).
It was a very easy experience. Freedom Motors took the stress from me. We have been able to take Kevin to outings with his 5 year old son. It makes a tremendous difference in our lives!
Shaun Carney helped my husband and me select and purchase a 2017 Kia Sorento. He helped us every step of the way, making certain that we were completely satisfied with our wonderful purchase. Today, my husband can back his scooter off the back ramp and take his scooter wherever we go. Anyone looking for a wheelchair accessible van in Florida can count on Shaun to deliver. He’s the BEST!
Need more attention while securing/releasing manual wheelchair to make sure it does not tip over on rear wheels due to sloping floor.
I DEALT WITH RAY FOSBERG. HE WAS VERY ACCOMMMODATING. HE WAS ALWAYS THERE WHEN I NEEDED HIM. STILL AVAILABLE AFTER A YEAR. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO WITHOUT THIS VEHICLE.
The sales man came out to our house to show us the vehicle we wanted to purchase. We signed the docu sign and gave him $1000 deposit. I told him I would be unavailable the next day as I would be at a truck auction. The next day he sent me another email and forgot to have me sign another docu sign. I seen it that night and had a couple questions about it. So I figured I would call him in the morning. The next morning he sent me a text saying it was sold. What a piece of sh@t company. He forgot to have me sign the other docu sign and sells it out from under us. I NEVER BUY A VEHICLE FROM THAT COMPANY ALL THEY THINK ABOUT IS THEIR BOTTOM LINE AND USE EXCUSE THAT I DIDN'T SIGN!!!! THAT WAS THE SALES MAN FAULT NOT MINE!!!! BATTLE CREEK MICHIGAN TERRIBLE TERRIBLE
Our old wheelchair van broke down and Dominic helped us get a new one and shipped it off. It was a very easy process. We love the new vehicle.
It really saddens me to share this, because I’m still in disbelief how badly my family and I were treated by this “family owned business.” I hope to spare anyone else from going through the same experience Pay attention to the negative reviews and the BBB complaints, you’ll see a pattern with this company. When complaints or problems arise, they cut off all communication rather than providing customer service. My husband is a disabled police officer, injured in the line duty, and we are in need of a wheelchair accessible vehicle. We loved the vehicles this company builds. From the vehicle brands they select, to the rear entry design, we believed we had found the vehicle for us. We were working with sales rep Dominic, and we had chosen a specific vehicle. He located the vehicle, in the shop, and provided us with a video walk-around, even noting minor problems that were being repaired, on this “ new” vehicle. Side note they don’t fix any recalls on the vehicle ps they have because it “takes too much time”, even if it’s a fire hazard recall! I asked if they give law enforcement discounts. Dominic texted ( knowing which vehicle we wanted) “I have a $2000 LE/ Service member discount that I will apply to WHATEVER you choose”. We were thankful, since we had to take money out of our home equity to afford this vehicle. Even though it’s not a purchase we wanted to have to make, we were excited to find this vehicle. Dominic then began drawing up a contact for the vehicle; and less than ten minutes after he gave us the discount, he called to say he would not give the discount. He explained that the vehicle was discounted to start with and he would not honor the 2,000 he promised. He said they don’t usually discount vehicles. I pointed out most vehicles on their site are discounted, and reminded him he said the discount would apply to “whatever” we choose. I could tell he didn’t like being confronted with facts and was getting angry with me because I thought they should keep to their word. Buying a 60,000 vehicle, unseen, I need to trust the seller and his word. He got angry, because I said I felt I needed to be dealing with someone I could trust and was true to their word. I asked to speak with his supervisor, and he refused to arrange that. I called and left a message for his supervisor, who never called. I called again, and the secretary told me I couldn’t speak with a supervisor, manager, owner or anyone, And she wasn’t sure if they’ll call me, because I said I would write a negative review. At this point I was crying, we really needed and counted on getting This vehicle. My husband called, because we got money out to purchase this vehicle and need it soon, because his wheelchair is coming. They cut off all communication. I started to look at business reviews on Google, Yelp, and the BBB. I saw many complaints about this same behavior occurring when people have problems with vehicles they purchased from Freedom Motors. We dodged that bullet. If you buy from here, I hope you don’t need to complain and nothing is wrong with your vehicle. They don’t want to deal with real people and do not want to be held to their word.
Setting your location allows BLVD.com to display local results for wheelchair vans, mobility products, dealers, stores and much more. The default location you are seeing may have been pulled via your IP Address which typically is only accurate within about 30 miles.
