we purchased one 4 years ago . The seat was replaced under warranty 1 time . The pendant screen went bad before the 3 year warranty was up and had to hire a lawyer to get Bruno to replace it . The control button failed on the replacement pendant and we were able to get it replaced once again. Cords and X connectors have broken multiple times .This last time when while using the new pendant for the first time the seat stopped half way out of the vehicle . It is now determined by a authorized dealer that the control board for the seat is bad . The seat looses it's programming in cold weather and pendant will not function properly. This seat was purchased Oct. 2012. The selling dealer's quality of work was very poor to say the least.
I had the Bruno Valet Plus installed in May of 2015. I have had it back for repair seven times. Sometimes it has just failed to work at all, but normally fails half way out of the car; resulting in a very difficult manual return to the home position. Normally, these failures have occurred in the cold, but not always. I reached out to Bruno headquarters for a solution and never received a response. I am now securing an attorney to try and reach a solution.
I paid $16000 to have 2 Bruno Valet seats installed 3 years ago in a brand new Toyota Sienna that was recommended by Mobility Works in Villa Park, IL. Since then, I had to replace my car battery 3x's, paid for relay switches to be installed so the seats would not drain the battery, and had the bases replaced, and the cords replaced. The seats perpetually fail, especially in cold weather when I have to find other transportation for my handicapped family members as I am stuck with car seats that won't function when we are out. I am so discouraged that these places like Mobility Works pillage the handicapped. They tried to charge me over $260 for a battery change the last time I was there when I could get one for $150-160 at the Toyota dealer. I could have bought a car for $16000. I feel I was ripped off for a product that is unreliable.
I seem to have alot of issues with this seat. They once replaced a relay in the chair for 900 dollars.
I got this seat in spring of 2014. The seat has been replaced 3 times. The pendent has been replaced twice. If the seat fais it can be put back in place manually but it involves getting behind the seat then next to the seat on the passenger side then behind it again. Cannot be done from your wheelchair. Considering the cost, they use very low quality components.
It is good as long it works, but the support is poor. I wanted a copy of the owner's manual, and I followed the steps providing my email address, model name, and phone number. After submitting the information, I got a message saying about the size of the file and "will be in touch soon." Meanwhile, the seat got stuck in an out position, and I cannot close the door. It should have an easy manual option to move the seat back.
Remote is unreliable, especially if the temperature is cooler than 60F. And you have to pay $400 for a new one whenever it craps out....add $70 for the chord.
I paid 8,000 dollars for this seat brand new. I’ve only had it for five years and I’ve had problems with it. The parts are ridiculous expensive. I took it to two shops they can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. So after only five years and almost 10,000$ with the seat and the parts and time I’ve put into it it’s usless. I would not recommend this seat to anyone!!!!
I am happy with the way the seat operates, however I am not happy that I was not told before purchasing it and having it installed that the center console could not be reinstalled and the seat belt had to be latched when the seat was not being used or the buzzer and warning buzzer would go off. This should be told to buyers beforehand.
I have been stranded while hunting in Sub-Zero temperatures seat was stuck halfway out. After fidgeting with it for over a half an hour in the dark I dropped the remote had to use my shotgun to retrieve it. Almost falling out several times. I called customer service when I got home and they advised me that I shouldn't be traveling alone. (So much for Independence). Most recently I was stuck in my driveway when the seat pinned me against the steering column and dash panel. I was in the hot N.M. sun for over an hour. Luckily a friend was able to call EMT which took 20 minutes to get me unstuck! Why did they stop making the "Turny" seat? It was a simpler design and went lower and farther back for driving position. I hate this seat but have no other options. Except for finding parts for my old Turny seat. This is virtually impossible!
I honestly wouldn’t wish this seat on my worst enemy. It is like a midieval torture device and very unreliable. One of the worst mistakes I ever made. Has failed numerous times & being handicapped that isn’t a good thing. Airbag light goes on and off and I was told this is a very common and unsafe. Please do not buy one.
Bought seat 10/2015 started having issues with pennant couple years ago especially in cold. Only with the out button we had the cord replaced 170.00 still did it, we dealt with it and made it work after fidgeting with it for long times. This was my way to get to work vehicle. We moved out of metro area and started working from home so we didn’t use it that much. The day we finalized our move 5/2019 that damn pennant stopped. I called the dealer in Minnesota and can you believe Bruno charges 352.00 for replacement. The guy was super nice and said maybe he had a used one, but then never called back and ignored my calls. Here we are 2020 and I still can’t use my seat. My husband lifts me in if we travel so we can take my power chair otherwise it’s the stupid manual chair.
Seat will not operate in cold temperatures
Have a Bruno valet for 9 years now. First in a Town and Country and transferred to our 2015 Sienna. New battery every year for all 3 years in Sienna even though vehicle is parked in our heated garage. Installer couldnt find a problem. Took to Toyota dealer this year and found intermittent draw. Dealer couldnt be specific about draw. Took to Mobility works in Pittsburgh and found with van turned off 20 ma draw - factory draw for Toyota. When seat is activated goes to 70ma draw. Found when van goes to sleep that seat has a pulse draw every 16 seconds that goes to 160 ma - Bruno says this is normal and how it is designed. The draw over time causes the battery to recharge more than normal when you start the van and because it gets drained so often the recharge sulfates the battery and this takes about 1 year for the battery to finally not take a charge anymore and fail. Added on/off switch to dash for main power no problems now.
Do not purchase this turny evo seat. Mine was nothing but problems. Braun doesn't back up the warranty or the product. Total scam.
We got the seat for our Toyota Sienna 5 months ago. It is a godsend! Works in below zero temps, smooth operation, a bit slow in moving but safer that way. All good so far.
