National Council on Disability -
is an independent federal agency making recommendations to the President
and Congress on issues affecting 54 million Americans with disabilities.
NCD is composed of 15 members appointed by the President and confirmed
by the U.S. Senate. In its 1986 report Toward Independence, NCD first
proposed that Congress should enact a civil rights law for people
with disabilities. In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was
signed into law.
National Council on Independent Living
- a membership organization that advances the independent living philosophy

National Disabiality
Sports Alliance - NDSA is the National Coordinating Body for competitive
sports for individuals with cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injuries
and survivors of stroke. NDSA was originally formed as the United
Cerebral Palsy Athletic Association (USCPAA) in 1987. NDSA also provides
programming for other physically disabling conditions such as muscular
dystrophy and multilpe sclerosis.

special needs, and support to their families. Easter Seals offers
a variety of services to help people with disabilities address life's

National Family Caregivers Association
- NFCA is a grass roots organization created to educate, support,
empower and speak up for the millions of Americans who care for chronically
ill, aged or disabled loved ones. NFCA is the only constituency organization
that reaches across the boundaries of different diagnoses, different
relationships and different life stages to address the common needs
and concerns of all family caregivers.
